Using nearbybook
These terms govern use of the nearbybook app and website. By using the service, you agree to these terms and our Community Guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. If you do not agree, stop using the service.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 and satisfy any higher minimum age and contractual requirements where you live. Where parental permission is required, obtain it before using the service. Provide accurate account details, keep your credentials safe, and tell us about unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account.
A marketplace that connects people
nearbybook helps users discover books and communicate. Sellers set prices and describe their books. Buyers and sellers independently agree on payment, collection, condition, and any returns. We do not process payments, hold funds in escrow, inspect every listing, provide delivery, or guarantee a transaction. Nearby distances are estimates based on coordinates, not road directions or verified pickup locations.
Listings and content
Only list books you own or are authorized to sell. Descriptions, photos, prices, condition, and location information must be accurate. Do not offer stolen goods, counterfeit or pirated copies, unlawful content, or items unrelated to the service. Remove unavailable listings or mark them sold promptly.
You retain ownership of content you upload. You grant nearbybook a non-exclusive permission to store, display, and transmit that content as needed to operate the service and show your listings and messages. This permission ends when the content is removed, except for limited retention described in the Privacy Policy or copies another user has lawfully retained.
Acceptable conduct
No fraud, harassment, threats, hate speech, exploitation, spam, impersonation, infringement, scraping of personal information, unauthorized access, or attempts to bypass security controls. Do not publish another person's private data without permission. Follow our Community Guidelines and applicable laws.
Safe transactions
Inspect a book before paying. Arrange exchanges in a safe public place and use your judgment about payment methods. Never share account passwords, one-time codes, or unnecessary financial information. Minors should involve a parent or guardian. Report suspicious listings or messages through Contact & Support.
Moderation and access
We may investigate reports, remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts when reasonably necessary to address violations, security incidents, or legal obligations. You can contact support to ask about an action or request a review. We do not promise that every item or conversation has been reviewed before it appears.
Third-party services and availability
External services such as WhatsApp and app stores have their own terms. We may change features, perform maintenance, or discontinue parts of the service. Availability, uninterrupted operation, listing accuracy, and particular transaction outcomes are not guaranteed.
Responsibility and your rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available and we are not responsible for losses caused by independent buyers, sellers, or external services. Nothing in these terms excludes rights, protections, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.
Leaving the service
You can stop using nearbybook at any time. Request permanent account and associated data deletion through Settings in the app or our Account Deletion page. Resolve outstanding arrangements with other users before leaving. Deletion does not reverse completed transactions.
Changes and contact
We may revise these terms, with the effective date shown above. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
